The spokesman for the Israeli embassy in London says that his government's blockade of the Gaza strip is justified on grounds of self-defence.
By what obscene moral logic does he believe that it is possible to starve children in ‘self-defence’?

Israel defends herself NOT in all means available against the crazy Hamas & Islamic Jihad and other extreme organizations. Israel can take some more steps forward but yet choose to wait and see how the Gazan's Arabs behave.
Israel has no obligation at all to keep it's border with Gaza open in time of war with the Gazans or at any other times. In spite of that, Israel lets the UNRA trucks to pull food into Gaza while at the same time the Gazans themselves fire the border posts!!!!
Gazans send Kassams into the electricity plan that produce and give electricity to Gaza. But when the Israeli pull down the switch they run in front of the western cameras to cry in their eyes and laugh in your face.
Give me a break! Britain wouldn't allow any Irish terror movement to bomb Leeds or Oxford even once. The Brits put fences all around and inside Londonderry and Omagh. Did you say something then?

Israel does have an obligation to comply with international law. International law allows states to defend themselves, but not through collective punishment of civilians.
You talk of the Gazans who "cry in their eyes and laugh in your face". Does this include the infant children whose mothers are having to root around in the trash to find enough food to feed them once a day, as a result of the blockade? Is it Gazan infants firing Qassam rockets?
Do you believe its possible to starve children in self defence?
You'll find that Britain was able to draw down and end the conflict with Irish Republican terrorist groups when it stopped collectively punishing the communities they came from, entered into dialogue with those groups and adressed what legitimate political concerns they had. That isolated the extremists and brought peace.
And btw, I focus on Israel because Britain backs and arms Israel, which gives me a share of the collective responsibility for Israeli crimes.
